Chicago Trainspotting. BNSF 2286 makes a new friend. HCLX 1059
A couple weeks ago I posted some pictures of BNSF 2286 near Western and 18th. Just last weekend I spotted it again a few miles Southwest at the BNSF Cicero Intermodal facility. This time with another GP38-2, HCLX 1059.
HCLX GP38-2 #1059 is an interesting case. Built in 1969 as Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad GP40 #215, it was sold to Union Pacific and renumbered 585. Sometime in the 2000's it was converted to GP38-2 standards and renumbered UP 2559 before becoming HCLX 1059 around 2010.
And of course here's our old friend 2286.
And who does't like a crane?
Unlike some of my drive-by photography, all these were taken with no trespassing necessary. I simply stood at the entrance of the yard at West 26th and South 53rd street. Shortly after this I headed up on the Laramie viaduct that passes over this yard. I'll share those pictures soon.
