Chicago Trainspotting BNSF GP38-2 #'s 2286 and 2378

Here's a nice juxtaposition of two BNSF GP38-2's.  Spotted these on switching duty at the BNSF yard near Western Ave and 18th Street.   Some interesting similarities in the lives and liveries of these two.

BNSF 2286 is clearly a former BN loco.  Built as Frisco 431 in 1978 it wore the flashy red and white until the early 80's when it became BN 2286.
The road number was retained post the BN/ATSF merger.

Some interesting weathering on the door and cab.  The front pattern of patches and rust reveals the location of the lights it had when in Frisco service.

BNSF 2387 also originated in red and white livery in 1978. However, in it's case as Toledo Peoria and Western (TPW) # 2007.  It became ATSF 2376 in the early 80's and survived in the ATSF blue and orange freight livery until a repaint around 2007.
