Trainspotting at the Portland and Western Railroad Yard in Albany, OR.
Earlier this year, a visit with friends in Oregon allowed for a brief visit to the Albany Yard of the Portland and Western Railroad (PNWR). There were no gates so I took a brief drive along the Northwest side of the yard. PNWR has the charming practice of naming their locomotives, something I'd not seen before.
GP39-2 #2307 "Independence"
GP40-2 #3002 "Clatkanie"
GP39-2 #2309 "Philomath"
GP40-2 #2317 "Tigard"
A few shots of some parts.
Lovely preserved Willamette and Pacific caboose WPRR #6
Didn't get a good shot, but I had to include a couple of pictures of SD7 #1501 Partial repaint from Southern Pacific, but it's still got that bold bloody nose!
One observation car at the end of the yard. "Appekuny Mountain"
Afterwards I cruised by the Southeast side of the yard where I took a couple of pictures of MP hoppers for future weathering reference.
Be well,
Karl
