A Brief Wintertime Look at the Minnesota Commercial Railway
I was briefly in the twin cities on family business but found time for a brief break to do some shopping at the Twin Cities Model Railroad Museum (fantastic deals there) and to take a few drive-by pictures of the Minnesota Commercial Railway (MNNR).
Weather, limited view from a nearby parking lot and only having my cell phone camera impeded the quality, but their roster of uncommon vintage ALCO and GE locos are so unique that I think any glance of these bright red beauties is worth blogging.
MNNM 54 (B30-7) was the loco I had the best view of. Resting behind it, #87 is a B39-8E

MNNM 84 (a GE B39-8E) with #313 peeking out from behind. #313 is an Alco C424.
Don't see many of those anymore!

Lone passenger car "Mirriam Park" resting out back. Information is scarce, but this might be an ex Canadian Pacific car.
I don't think it's part of the railroad complex, but this interesting municipal building was opposite trackside. As far as I can tell the "Minnesota Department of Public Service" ceased to be in 1976.
I realize this is post is just a meager taste of the Minnesota Commercial Railway. Hopefully I will be back in the Twin Cities in 2020 and I'll make an effort to take more and better photos.
