Toy Car Scale Comparison: Matchbox "Tractor" MB703

Today sees the first of many Toy Car Scale Comparisons.  As it is the first here's a bit about why I'm doing this.

At about a dollar each, toy cars can be a very affordable way to add vehicles to one's layout.  This is  especially apparent when compared to the price of HO scale model vehicles which tend to range from 8 dollars and up.  Toy cars sometimes have some shortcomings such as garnish wheels, but I'll discuss how to overcome those shortcomings in future posts.

The average Matchbox or Hot Wheels car is close to 1/64 scale which is far to large for HO's 1/87 scale.  However, as these toys are sized to fit into the same packaging, trucks and other larger equipment is often sized more appropriately for HO scale.  A few times a week I'll post up these Toy Car Scale Comparison pictures.  The vehicle of the day will always be shown along side a pair of HO scale vehicles and an HO figure along with information about that car and some commentary.  I'll also link the "Model:" to the Matchbox Cars Wiki for those who wish to look into other versions of the vehicle.

Brand: Matchbox
Model #: MB703
Produced: 2007-Present

2017 Version called "Tractor King" on the packaging.
"Tractor" is a nice generic small farm tractor.   Size is just about perfect, though it has no windshield.   It's appeared in at least 16 different versions since it's inception so they are not hard to find.  The current 2018 model has a very sharp grey paint scheme that looks quite realistic despite having made-up branding. Vehicles like this would make great flatcar loads.
